The Barbados Defense Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) ruined a golden opportunity to go top of Zone 2 in the Barbados Football Association (BFA) Premier League last Sunday night, at the BFA Wildey Turf.
The perennial champions scuffed a two-goal lead and were made to settle for a 3-3 draw against a spirited Crane and Equipment Ellerton unit.
The BDFSP looked keen and productive in the early stages, as they played at a rapid pace and moved the ball around swiftly.
National senior team captain Rashad Jules along with forward T’Shane Lorde had the Ellerton defense at their mercy.
Jules sent BDFSP ahead in the 12th minute when he benefited from an error by Ellerton defender Javon Austin.
Austin failed to handle a long pass from Raheim Sargeant and the ball fell favourably to Jules who dribbled around goalkeeper Jamar Brewster and finished from close range with his right foot.
Jules doubled his and BDFSP’s tally when he shot from outside the area with his left foot and the ball ricocheted off an Ellerton defender and into the net, leaving Brewster motionless.
Just on the stroke of half-time, Ellerton cut their deficit in half as midfielder Anson Barrow headed in Shakille Belle’s left-sided cross.
Belle levelled from the penalty spot in the 61st minute after he was brought down inside the area by Rashad Smith.
Ellerton utilized their momentum favourably as they took the lead in the 66th minute with substitute Jamar Grazzette ‘s first touch; slotting home a loose ball inside the area.
BDFSP’s Smith ruined Ellerton’s celebrations when he controlled a cross from Stefon Elliot and volleyed the ball into the net from eight yards in the 94th minute.
