“It’s not a good combination, the way the law and the mental health of a defendant intersect,” said Jeffrey Urdangen, a clinical professor of law and director of the Center for Criminal Defense at the Bluhm Legal Clinic at Northwestern University. “… I don’t see this being a good situation for anybody, not the judge, not the state, not the defendant, not the jury. And I can’t imagine it having a good ending for this particular defendant.”
